This month marks the 40th anniversary for Mitchell Planning, a division of Ross & Baruzzini, the nation’s leading provider of medical equipment planning. The firm has grown from a small 3-person operation, located in the basement of founder Tom Mitchell, to an international firm providing medical equipment planning, procurement, installation and relocation services throughout the United States and abroad. Mitchell Planning has planned and implemented some of the largest healthcare projects in the world.
Headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, Mitchell offers a diverse and comprehensive portfolio of more than 900 projects and has planned more than $5 billion worth of medical equipment. Their comprehensive list of clients includes some of the most prestigious institutions in the United States. Mitchell Planning is currently led by President Scott Vinson, the son-in-law of founder Tom Mitchell, and has a staff of more than 50 people.
“I started working with Tom Mitchell in the basement of his house on June 1, 1977. There were three of us at that time and we had just signed our first project which was located in Detroit, Michigan. We drove there in Tom’s car and started our company with a copy machine and catalogs. The equipment planning process and technology has certainly changed, but the commitment to our clients has remained the same.”

Mitchell Planning was acquired by Ross & Baruzzini in June 2016.
