We provided retro-commissioning and energy efficiency upgrades for McDonnell Hall on Washington University's Hilltop Campus. Constructed in 1993, the 107,000 ft² facility offers space for research, laboratories, and offices for the Department of Biology as well as a 150-seat auditorium, a 75-seat classroom, and an 85-seat classroom.

The scope of work included a reduction in lab airflow rates from 12 air changes to 6, conversion of labs from constant to variable airflow operation, control system upgrades, lighting control integration, and refurbishment of existing air handlers and exhaust fan systems. The project has provided energy savings of over $100,000 per year, or more than 30% of annual utility costs.
