Ross & Baruzzini provided preliminary planning and comprehensive A/E and technology design services for the renovation of the Control Room at its 500MW Combined-Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) providing a more streamlined layout allowing the Control Room Operators to function more effectively; while also providing the necessary security. The project required a multi-phased approach to allow the Control Room to remain in operation. This objective included the temporary relocation of various components throughout the facility to allow for continued progress. The new space design provides an updated and reconfigured Control Room utilizing a more efficient layout and relationship to the adjacent Supervisor Office and Break Room. This space was segregated from the “more acoustically active” adjacent spaces minimizing distractions and noise during operations. The design relocated the less secure environment of the Conference Room and offices more closely to the primary entrance to create a more efficient layout and security zone and provides a more effective use of the two public restrooms currently located off the existing entry corridor.
