This new 680,000sf, 11-story, state-of-the-art biomedical research building houses highly-flexible laboratories that were designed to promote collaborative research between multiple disciplines and departments and adapt to changing technologies. The building houses BSL-3 labs and a 30,000sf vivarium with ABSL-3 labs.  Numerous sustainable design features were incorporated including ventilation reduction strategies, heat recovery, extensive occupancy controls, daylighting controls, and optimized building envelope, resulting in this building achieving LEED Gold certification.
