ST. LOUIS, January 16, 2014 – The MW Boudreaux Recreation and Visitor Center Complex, which opened in 2010 in Mark Twain Lake, Missouri, recently received a Design-Build Institute of America Mid-America Region Honor Award in the category of Commercial Under $10 million. Ross & Baruzzini provided complete architecture and engineering services for the project along with John J. Kirlin Special Projects acting as the Prime Contractor. Cissell Mueller Construction served as the local general contractor.
The 8,000sf visitor center complex overlooking Mark Twain Lake is owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and was executed on a fast-track basis. The lodge style building includes an inviting main lobby with reception area and store displays, an exhibit hall to house interpretive displays, a multipurpose auditorium, kitchen, break area, meeting space, restrooms and support space. The building exterior features a natural stone veneer quarried in Missouri, natural cedar shingles, and a standing seam metal roof. The project was designed and constructed as LEED Gold equivalent.
