Dimmick attended the National Institute of Crime Prevention’s (NICP’s) courses on CPTED with his colleague Jason Mayfield, AIA, CPD, he watched their classmates gravitate to Jason for his viewpoint as the design expert in the group. Jason’s insights helped Matthew further recognize the value in CPTED principles and their application and how architects can provide value to physical security teams.     The newly approved tax plan has the potential of benefiting security programs. 2018 may be an ideal time to conduct gap analyses or broader threat and risk assessments to determine areas and assets that may have not been afforded sufficient protections, in the past, due to budgetary restrictions.  This will allow for the development of a very strong business case for your security department budget for the 2019 fiscal year.
