University of Notre Dame
South Bend, Indiana
Ross & Baruzzini designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems for a new
residence hall at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The building is roughly 65,000-sf
and houses 220 beds in traditional double, triple, and quad bedrooms, with community bathrooms, lounges,
studies and a chapel. The HVAC system will consist primarily of fan coil units, with cooling provided
from the campus chilled water loop, heating provided by the campus steam system (via hot water heat
exchangers), and ventilation air provided by central air handling units with total enthalpy heat recovery
wheels.
